Two years ago medicinal cannabis was legalised in the UK after Professor Mike Barnes secured the first NHS prescription for Alfie Dingley, an epileptic boy having dozens of seizures a day. Thousands of children like Alfie need cannabis, but despite promises from the Health Secretary, no prescriptions are being written.
Private cannabis prescriptions for pain and anxiety are rising rapidly, Prof Barnes says. But if you go to an NHS doctor, you will be offered OxyContin, never cannabis. Prof Barnes is urging patients not to give up, to put doctors under pressure until they start prescribing a medicine that improves quality of life immeasurably for so many people.

Private medication is just supply the rich not those who need it .. that’s just so sad . I also understand it’s limited to a tiny range of cannabis medication. So even those who get the prescription often go back to the black market or grow their own. For better choice. They know more than the doctors. Listening to drug science podcasts from true sufferers

Must be linked to decriminalisation, education of the endocannabinoid system with our MPs and even more our Doctors. Drugs are a medical issue not criminal. WAr on drugs is just a media anti black anti Hispanics fight by Aslinger in the USA . Nothing to do with science. Prohibition has never worked. I believe the facts of harm reduction shown by Portugal and Switzerland must be the way forward.
